Free Tawny Frogmouth talk as part of the Sapphire Coast Science Festival

The Team

Maude

Maude is one of the many Tiny Zoo residents and she comes to us from On the Perch Bird Park, which sadly closed to the public in February 2020. Maude, along with her partner Twigs, are both rescue birds who would have normally not survived from previous injuries, but now share an important message about conservation and the role that zoos play, but also the role everyone can play in caring for our environment.

Alex

Alex has to come to Tiny Zoo with a background in birds and reptiles. She is a qualified zookeeper and she has a keen interest in sharing her knowledge and getting people excited about nature and biodiversity. Alex has recently completed a Captive Husbandry Manual for the Satin Bowerbird (one of her favourite species) for zoos and private breeding facilities to use to improve the captive management of this species.

Holly

Holly is our Senior Zookeeper and she comes to Tiny Zoo with extensive experience in captive animal management and her previous employment within the zoo industry as a qualified zookeeper. She has published numerous articles about the captive breeding of the Splendid Fairy-wren, and gave a presentation to the Finch Society of Australia, having prepared a Captive Husbandry Manual for the Splendid Fairy-wren.
